Wishes and Hope for a Cure

This is a very special necklace which I am proud to offer for sale. Truly a family affair, the glass vial held the insulin which helps to keep my wonderful son-in-law and beautiful 3 year old grandson alive everyday since they both have type 1 diabetes and need this insulin to live. The fluff inside was lovingly collected by my older grandsons from dandelions in the yard, which they still love to blow into the wind with a wish. The leather stopper is cut from my hubby's stash of leather that he uses to make his beautiful native american wares. I added the charms, WISH and an awareness ribbon charm that says HOPE with a blue bead for the blue circle which is a symbol for type 1. Just let me know you want it and I'll send you an invoice. $30

Triple Stamping Christmas Card

This was everyone's favorite card last night and I have to admit I rather love it myself. The secret to this card is stacking all the neutral cardstock sheets on top of each other ( in my case it was white) and temporarily adhering them together. Stamped the background in the new CTMH Whisper ink ( oh I love it, it is soft and perfect for this card) using the Universal Backgrounds music stamp. Then the words from the B1403 To You and Yours and the holly leaves in black and colored the holly and berry using the Olive and Ruby alcohol inks. I even stamped the inside cover.
I left the right side open to stamp another sentiment or leave it to write a note for a more personal card. After all the stamping and coloring is done, undo your stack and mat each layer with ruby cardstock ,line up your matted pieces into a new stack adding a ribbon from stash around the top two layers, and mounting that onto my white card base,  around the 2nd two layers completed the card. If you need sizes just let me know and I'll be happy to help.
To order this B 1403 To You and Yours and D1477 Universal Backgrounds so you too can make this easy and uniquely beautiful card, go to www.ctmh.com/janeo and please join my gathering for Joshua's RockStars on my home page down toward the lower right corner until the 20th. Fall cards we made last night

Oh I love, love, love Fall. I am so ready for the heat to end and crisp fall evenings to brighten my spirits. Here are two fall cards we made last night. The first is an interlocking gate fold card. Simply random stamp or use double sided paper, fold both ends to the middle and crease well. Add a frame cut from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge ( I used the Circle 4 frame found on page 51>layer cut @3". You can cut 2 identical ones from 2 different papers ie. white and autumn terracotta and then save the white frame and the autumn terracotta center for something else, or you can just cut one out of white or colonial ivory and brayer on the color you want your frame to be ( that's what I do, I love brayering my color on the white) Used the new Fall Harvest  CTMH stamp set and autumn terracotta, olive, saddle, chocolate inks and the autumn terracotta alcohol marker set. Here is a view of the back of the card opened out.
I love the depths that was created by stamping off the ink from my stamp each time on the actual card instead of on my scratch papers and then sponging on autumn terracotta to cover the white after all the leaves and words were stamped. Hope you like it as much as I do.

This next card was just so much fun. I stamped out all of the scarecrows for my ladies to color, since no one else had the September Stamp of the Month Fall Favorites yet. All of their cards were terrific and very different. It's really fun to see what grown women can do with a stamped image and some markers for coloring. Here is my example for them:
I used some background paper from the Believe paper pack, chocolate cardstock that I ran thru my cuttlebug, and stamped the word fall in autumn terracotta and cut out. The words Hello was stamped with the D1220 Typewriter Keys, overlapping the letters similar to the word fall and also cutting around them. A couple of strip of burlap sticking under the cardstock completes the card. A combination of the new CTMH alcohol markers and the new retired markers colored the image. Click on the cards to see closeup. This is a great stamp set and is only available during the month of September. Place a $50 retail order and order the September Stamp of the Month Fall Favorites for only $5.00. Please go to my website www.ctmh.com/janeo to place your order. Until the 20th of September I am doing a special fundraiser for my 3 year old grandsons Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk, you just need to click on JOIN Joshua's Rock Stars to place you order and all of my commission will go to JDRF

Online gathering for Joshua's Rockstars...come join me

I am doing an online gathering to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to raise money to find a cure for Type I diabetes. Joshua's Rock Stars is the name of my little 3 years old grandson's Walk Group for JDRF. He was only 11 months old when we almost lost him to this awful autoimmune disease, before the doctors at the Children's Hospital could even diagnose what the problem was. He was one of the youngest they had ever seen, and so many of the symptoms of high blood sugar fit so many other things that they weren't even looking for it .
Please visit my website to place your order for any of the great CTMH products and be sure to click on the Join Joshua's Rock Stars before placing the order. Your items will be shipped straight to your door, it couldn't be easier. Make sure you check out the 2 exclusive terrific CTMH Cricut cartridges, Art Philosophy which never leaves my machine, and our newest Artiste which I featured in another post. You won't be sorry, they are both so versatile. Each comes with 3 full stamp sets and chipboard sheets that coordinate with the cuts on the cartridges.
I will be donating my entire commission from this online gathering to JDRF thru Joshua's Rock Stars. The gathering will close on Sept 20, 2012 so check out the online catalog.

I would love you to meet my little hero. This is the video that his Mom and Dad did last year before our Walk and help raise awareness of how Type 1 Diabetes effects every aspect of not only Joshua's young life but the whole family as well.  Take just a few minutes to view it, he is one cute little guy. We need to find a cure, we need to find a way to reverse it's effects, millions of people will benefit and you can help.
If you don't need any CTMH products, I am also making my Monogrammed Key Chains, with a snap pocket, check them out here. 50% of the sales also go to Joshua's Rock Stars. Just want to make a donation, you can do that too, just email me at Ja5Oaks@aol.com and I'll send you the link to make a donation on our team. Not able to order or make a donation, we still need prayers to find a cure. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Stamp Sets that coordinate with CTMH Cricut Cartridges

One of the things that I love about the CTMH exclusive Cricut Cartridges is the fact that you have a variety of Stamp Sets that match the shapes on the cricut cartridges. This means that you can easily cut shapes with the cricut and then stamp on that image to create a variety of interesting images, banners, focal points, badges etc. In the catalog you will see stamp sets that have a red line around the images. Those are the ones that have a matching shape on one of the cartridges. CTMH even gives you the size on the stamp set carrier sheet to cut the image. One thing that I like to do, is highlight the stamp sets with matching cricut images in the back of my idea book in the index of stamp sets. Here is a list of the new stamp sets in the Autumn/Winter 2012 catalog and the list from the Spring/Summer 2012 catalog (remember that catalog is still viable, you now have 2 current catalogs).
Here is the list that coordinates with the Artiste Cartridge!

New Autumn/Winter 2012 catalog is Here

I am so excited to bring you this new catalog, it is fabulous. I love Fall and the new papers and stamp sets are very exciting. We have new colors, new alcohol markers, chalkboard vinyl and a chalk marker (oh the possibilities) and another super terrific exclusive Cricut cartridge. I didn't think it was possible to have another cartridge as versatile and indispensable as our Art Philosophy Cartridge, but ARTISTE is proving to be this and more.
Check out some of these great Workshops On The Go artwork using the new Artiste cartridge. They are so inspiring, I can't wait to start creating.
Create a Halloween party, including treat bags, cupcake picks and liners, soda or water wraps and a banner.
Wow, how about a Scroll Album for that extra special touch.
My personal favorite, an Advent calendar. The little boxes are easily cut with the new Artiste cartridge and the cubby is sturdy and just the right size for hiding a special treat.
I'm really excited that with this catalog, we also have two Workshop kits that are just for cardmakers too. I just love the new Christmas papers, don't you?
Remember each of these Workshops on the Go, comes with the paper packs, some accessories and an exclusive stamp set used to create the projects. Check out the new catalog online, you can scroll though page by page and then place your orders with me, so you can get started on all of your favorite projects.

Star Card

Click on any picture to see close up.

This is such a fun fold card and really catches the eye. I used some retired cocoa cafe paper as my base. I usually use cardstock as a base, but this card has so many layers that I found I like the effect of using the patterned paper as the base and the card stock as the accent pieces. With the cocoa cafe paper it is patterned on one side and the other side is a plain color. I realized that I had not taken enough pictures to do this tutorial after I had sent this card so you will see a couple of different papers in the pictures.  This is a good size card, 6 inches across
I used my Martha Stewart scorboard and marked the center of a 12x12 paper and then using a stylus scored a line straight down the 6 inch mark about 2 inches.
then using a 12 inch ruler you want to measure exactly 12 inches on an angle from the bottom left corner to the center mark. Remember you will only be going up to that center mark (about 2 inches below the top of the paper). Now you want to do the exact same thing from the right bottom corner up to that center mark. You will be cutting out your triangle as shown.
Yours won't have the score lines yet for folding, but it is the next step. Put one of the straight 12 inch sides along the board and score at 5 1/4 line and on the 7 inch line. You will turn the triangle and do all three sides the same way. You will end up with a center triangle and 3 side wing triangles.
You will be making a mountain fold at the 5 1/4 fold and a valley fold at the 7 inch score lines.

Then just fold it up, fitting the flaps together to hold, kind of like closing the flaps on the top of a box.

To decorate let your imagination have fun. These were fairly simple but you can get as detailed as you choose. I used the extra paper from where I cut my large triangle and cut 3 strips 1.5x6 inches between the folds. I cut a 6 inch square of cardstock and 3 smaller 3.5x3.5 square to form the contrasting triangles using the exact same method as I did for the 12 inch one above. For the outer focal point, make sure when you adhere it to the outside that you only glue it to one triangle so that you can open your card.

Best Gift Ever - Key Chain with 2.5x4 pouch

I love my embroidery machine and I love the "In The Hoop" designs from Five Star Fonts . I have decided that this is probably one of my favorite projects that I have done in a long time. These quilted key chains with a pocket in the back make the perfect gift for everyone on your shopping list.
The back pocket is just right for your driver's license, a credit card, some cash or an ID. The pouch is held securely with a snap closure. Of course all letters are available and a wide variety of patterns and colors of fabrics , I just have a ton of people in my family with names that start with an S.
Now who can use these: anyone who doesn't want to drag a purse around that just needs some ID and cash/credit card, and keys to car ie. trip to pool/beach, gym, beauty salon, spa, grocery store, zoo, site seeing, Mom's with baby/children in tow, bike riding, hiking, amusement park, movies, and best of all  use it as a gift card holder to give something that your friends/family will continue to use for years to come. Use as a luggage tag with contact info in pocket or a tag on your camera bag. Clip it onto your belt loop on your jeans and you would sure make it hard for a thief to target you. I'd love to have other ideas of where you think you would use this, if you were own one.
I will be taking orders for these, just email me with Key Chain in the title, Ja5Oaks@aol.com. The price is $7 (shipping included for US) and a portion of each sale will go to Juvenile Diabetes Reasearch Foundation to help fund a cure for T1 diabetes.

Baby Closet Dividers

I am going to be a Grandma/Nana again and I am thrilled. My baby is going to have a baby in January, their first and I have already started on projects that I've had in my mind for awhile. Here is one of the first ones, closet dividers. I remember how you get all these cute outfits and then they get all mixed up in the closet and before you know it, your baby has outgrown an outfit you never got to use. These make terrific shower gifts, and something that any Mom or Dad will appreciate for years to come. Even more perfect for those Moms and Dads that are having their 2nd or 3rd child cause they can organize the closet by size for more than one child at a time. When I showed these to my oldest daughter her comment was, "those are great, but I never bought any because they only went up to like 18 months". This full set of 10 dividers goes all the way up to 6x. They can be made in a variety of colors to coordinate with nursery or as these are, not gender specific.
I backed these with a bright and cheery fabric on the reverse side. I will take special orders for these, $15 a full set, your choice of colors and fabrics as available. This includes shipping to you. Just send me an email to Ja5Oaks@aol.com and put baby dividers in the title.

Retiring List

Just a heads up, lots of new stuff and lots of stuff retiring this year. Big changes in colors, with special colors for a limited time coming up. I just copied this list from another consultant and wanted to give you all a heads up so if you really want or need anything you can order NOW as supplies will be limited and things will sell out especially INK COLORS, REINKERS usually go first, and CARDSTOCK so if you have a color you just love you may not want to wait to order at hostess night, since we don't send in orders until the last of the month, by then they will most likely sell out and I won't be able to get them for you..New Markers, similar to copics are coming with 2 markers per shade in a set either a lighter or darker hue than the named color.....new cricut cartridge....new colors....new mini stamp pads.....new storage cases....
I can't stress enough that if you have a color that you love you need to order the reinker to refresh you pad now, usually these go really really fast.

Please note, that I will not guarantee it is 100% accurate. I based it off what we've been told about stamps being available for one year, accessories being available current book only, etc. Basically, if it's not shown in the new book or the Spring/Summer book, I listed it here.

The products listed below are NOT listed in the new Autumn/Winter Idea Book, so it is a good guess that they will be retired as of July 31, 2012. As we’ve already found out with some of them, I would also venture to guess they are going to be while supplies last.

We have been told that our My Acrylix Stamp Sets are available for a period of one year - the current Idea Book and the one previous. Based on that, I have gone through the new AW 2012 book, SS 2012 book and AW 2011 book and believe these ones are going to be retired as they are NOT in the new AW 2012 book or the SS 2012 book.

The following colors are NOT listed in the Autumn/Winter 2012 Idea Book.
The items numbers listed are for the 24 packs of cardstock where available.

Of course, with the color change, this also means that the Combo Packs will be retiring, as well as the Shade Packs. This will also mean the stamp pads, markers and re-inkers will be gone as well. If you need these, you had better hurry! They do have a tendency to sell out FAST!

My best guess (after being a consultant for almost 9 years) is these will be available through July 31, 2012, while supplies last.

Flower Pot Cards

Working outside today on the deck to get the flowers planted for the the summer and wanted to share some Flower Pot Cards that I created this weekend. Perfect for Mother's Day, something to make you smile, these cards will hold a special sentiment or a gift card for that sweet "MOM". All the flower cuts were done with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, I swear it never leaves my cricut.
The daisies were made using Flower1 on page 21 @ 1 3/4 inch need 2 per flower, with a circle center on page 21 cut at 1/2 inch. I pop dotted the 2 flower sections apart as well as the center dot, to give more dimension and inked just the tips in honey ink. The leaves were Branch1 pg. 43 cut at 1 1/2 inches from New England ivy cardstock and I used 4 or 5 sprays. The pullout section on the daisy card measures 6 x 3 1/4. I measured up 3 1/2 inches from bottom on both sides and then trimmed from that mark down in an angle to match my pot. I wanted a wider base for the daisies and leaves to sit on.

For the tulips I used the Oval1 on page 22 cut at 3/4 inch and I cut 3 per tulip. I used some retired patterned paper and inked the edges all the way around the ovals before gluing them together. I cut the stems from from scrap New England Ivy as well as the leaves (just elongated leaf with point at end).
For the pull out section of the card, the insert base 6 7/8 x 2 3/8. The colonial ivy portion which sits inside the pot and is large enough for a gift card is 2 1/4 x 3 1/4. I glued down my tulips, the stems and leaves, then trimmed around the bouquet, removing any olive cardstock that surrounded the flowers and leaves.
Here is a great tutorial for how to make a Flower Pot card with pictures to show you how the pot is cut.Thank you Stephanie Luman for posting this terrific tutorial.  I changed the dimensions a bit. My Autumn Terracotta cardstock was cut 3 1/2 x 8 " , I scored @ 1" and 3 1/2". I also embossed the bottom of the pot with a cuttlebug folder for character.

These cards are longer than a standard size invitation card, the height is about 7 inches, and the width 4 1/4.
As always if you have any questions, I will be happy to try and answer them.
I'd love to know what you think, so please leave me a comment. Thanks and have a wonderful Day!

My little bit of Spring

I love yellow tulips and wanted to make some to brighten up my computer area, so that I can enjoy them year round if I want. I used the Art Philosophy cartridge and cut the oval 3 at 3 inches. Double up two ovals on top of each other and then cut a zigzag pattern across the middle of the stacked ovals, thereby cutting them in half. Now you have 4 flower top pieces. Double up the matching pieces, you will use 2 top pieces for each tulip. I dry embossed the top pieces using a cuttlebug embossing folder to add some texture.Take a long meat skewer (got mine at $tree) and wrapped floral tape down it to cover.Tied a pink gingham bow to each wrapped skewer. Free hand cut out some long pointed leaves, once I had a good design, I just traced it onto cardstock for the rest of the flowers. I scored down the center of the leaves and folded on score line to give dimension. Glued the leaf ends to the skewer with liquid glass by wrapping the bottom of the leaf around the skewer and clamped with clothes pins until dry (doesn't take long). Then I added the tulip by sandwiching the skewer between two tulip tops securing with liquid glass. Clamped the tulip base to skewer with clothes pin until dry as well.
The base is an open tray made from a piece of 12x8 inch cardstock. Score 2 inches from all 4 edges and fold on score lines. I mitered the corners bringing the fold to the inside and glued securely with liquid glass and clamped with clothes pins to dry. Then I cut a 1 inch by 6 x 4 piece of Styrofoam of the inside of the tray to stick the tulips into. Cover Styrofoam with Easter grass and my planter box of tulips is done to make me smile.

Bunny Pillow Boxes

Tracey Sanders over at http://gr8scraps.blogspot.com/ has once again created something I couldn't wait to try for my two littlest grandsons. I made these little guys to go into their Easter baskets and the great thing about them is that they are large enough for a toy, or pretzels, or apple snacks individually wrapped. In our family it's not all about the candy. Thank you Tracey for your ideas. I changed mine up a bit, used Heavenly Blue instead of blush, increased the size of the head to 3 3/4 instead of 3 1/2, added some pink buttons for the noses, and used some plain wide brown grosgrain ribbon. Check out Tracey's terrific design and leave her a comment letting her know how much you like her cute ideas. Everyone love to find a comment showing that you like what they do.

Happy St. Paddy's Day

Shamrocks blowing in the wind. A new 3D art canvas for my daughter's guest room that she has decided to do in a Celtic theme. I will be seeing her tomorrow for St. Patrick's day and with a last name of O'Leary we tend to celebrate it as a major holiday. We will be going to DC area for a welcome home party for my nephew after his safe return from Afghanistan so I know we will be spending it with family and friends, good food and good times. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Irish or not?
AP cricut cartridge used to cut various sizes of hearts, 6 of each size per shamrock. Fold hearts in half and glue on flap of each folded heart to the other to form a petal, 3 petals to a shamrock and I just hand cut the stems of various sizes. Art canvas is 12 x16 and framed with a 12 x16 frame with glass removed. Hope you enjoy and I can't wait to give it to Shannon when I see her tomorrow.

Easter is right around the corner

Here are a couple of cute cards to make for Easter/Spring.

Here are a couple of cute cards to make for Easter/Spring.
Both of these cards uses the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and cuttlebug folders, two of my favorite things for creating. The Bunnies were created cutting Petal2 shape, p59 @ 1 1/2 inches for ears in white, you need 4, and 4 @ 1 inch in pink( mine were watermelon CTMH). Heads were circle shape on p 21 cut @ 1 1/4 need 2, and butt @ 1 1/4 need 1 in white. Muzzle was same circle cut 1/2 inch need 4, for the white eyes I changed my expression to cut in 10ths and use .40 as the cutting size, need 4. Pink nose was cut @ 1/4 inch need 2. Feet were cut from the egg shape 9 p 57 @ 1 inch and so were the Easter eggs hidden in the grass.  Black eyes were punched with a 1/4 hole punch. The frame for the sentiment was cut from Shape3 p 46, Decorative layer @ 1 inch.  I cut a strip of New England Ivy patterned paper from my stash and used scissors to fringe the grass. The top cardstock was embossed with the Swiss Dot cuttlebug embossing template and sanded to make the dots pop. I popped the face off the ears, the muzzle off the face and the nose off the muzzle. I glitter glued pink  the nose and inside the ears to give some sparkle and because who doesn't love glitter. A simple bow and some tiny pearls finishes the card.
Chick Card
Buttercup and Honey are the CTMH colors used on this card. AP cricut cuts are:
1 Circle2 card p 31 @ 4 inches, 2 Tab2 font layer p58 @ 1 3/4 for wings, 1 Oval2 accent p. 32 @ 2 inches for top of head, 2 Oval 2 accents p 32 @ 2 1/2 inches for feet, 1 Banner4 p49 @ 1 1/4 for beak, 2 Circle p21 @ 1 inch for white eyes, @ 3/4 for black eyes, @ 1/4 for eyes centers. Inside I cut another circle 2 card in a coordinating patterned paper p31 @ 3 3/4.
Assembly: Emboss card front with Swiss Dots folder, emboss wings with swirls folder. Ink edges in honey. Measure where you want wings and slit front of card to tuck in back of wings. Adhere to inside of card, dimensional tape under wings on front to pop off card at wing base. Assemble eyes with circles Attach beak and eyes, pop dot eyes. Trim 2" oval accent piece by cutting in center and use top half for feathers at top ( there is a small slit in the top of the card base which the cricut makes when you cut out the card, the base of the feathers will fit into that slit) adhere to inside of card. Cut both of the 2 1/2 inch oval accent pieces in half and use bottom half for the feet, removing the curly pieces on the side of the 3 center feet section. Adhere to inside of card. Adhere the patterned card to the inside of the card which will cover up almost all of the pieces where you adhered your pieces inside the card to give a finished look.
I hope you like these little guys, if you have any questions just let me know.
Happy Spring!

Mini Bunny Basket

Adorable little mini Bunny Basket for your enjoyment. Let this little girl brighten your Easter with room for a small gift in the Easter Basket or alone for cute decorations on your Easter table.

Cut with the CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge, finished basket is a 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 inch container . Use page 23 Basket set on Fit to Page. The feet were cut from Oval 2 on page 32 at 1 1/2" (cut 2), the ears are on page 59 Petal 2, cut 2 in white 3 31/4" and 2 pink at 3". Nose  uses Heart pg 26 cut at 1" in white and 3/4" in pink. Eyes are circle cut 1/2" in black, Foot pads pg. 21 circle in pink 2 at 1" and 6 at 1/4" Whiskers were just 1/4" strips cut various lengths.  Only takes minutes to put together. I did take the cut out from the handles on the basket and reinsert behind the ears with the back of the ears holding it in place so you don't see a hole between the ears. A double pink bow also helps to hide the seams.  It's got a white cotton ball on the back for her cottontail.
